The test in question is the most commonly used IQ test, the Wechsler adult intelligence scale (WAIS). Without need for any preparation-no verbal introductions necessary for the testing protocol-I copied the exact questions from the test and presented them to the chatbot in the computer. Nor did it express uninvited, skeptical comments about intelligence tests and testers like myself. It doesn’t show test anxiety, poor concentration or lack of effort. ChatGPT was almost an ideal test taker, with a commendable test-taking attitude. My first impressions were quite favorable. Knowing all this made me curious to see how smart ChatGPT is by human standards, and I set about to test the chatbot. It writes academic essays and fairy tales, tells jokes, explains scientific concepts and composes and debugs computer code. So I was immediately intrigued after reading the many recent articles describing ChatGPT as having impressive humanlike skills. In my work as a clinical psychologist, I assess the cognitive skills of human patients using standardized intelligence tests. I don't think it's an accurate test of intellect, and I don't think really gives enough room to lessen the likelihood of someone getting an answer right by happenstance.ChatGPT is the first nonhuman subject I have ever tested. It doesn't address the complexities of human interaction and out of the box reasoning that is needed for assessment and decision making in life. Additionally, IQ scoring only really seems to test linear reasoning. Supposedly 98% of people have an IQ lower than 130. But what I want to know is why I had to work harder than most people in school and I don't have some crazy job performance earning me big money if this test is accurate, lol. And let's be honest, that's probably what everyone took this for. I'm not sure why they didn't advertise the cost in advance for extended score, but they only promised the numerical score free, which it is. It asked me to pay at the end for broken down results, but to check my email, and I did have an email with just my numerical score. I'm not really clear based on what it said in the beginning if the time it takes plays a factor or just the answers. Apparently I have a 130 IQ according to this test in 12:44. Like someone else said, there's a 50/50 chance of getting a question right if you don't know the answer. The entire test is common sense questions or math questions basically. Why would I support someone who takes me for a fool? What a pos website I could pay the $15 if I wanted to but I’m not in the habit of supporting companies who use manipulation tactics to get my money. Advertising something is free and then forcing someone to pay for their “free” results. are you dense? It’s not about the money, it’s the principle. For those saying “it is free, you just have to pay $15 for a more comprehensive breakdown” IN WHAT WORLD IS THAT FREE…. What a scam! Advertises as a free IQ test which then prompts you to take it! After 21 minutes of all of that work and you hit submit it takes you right to a page that says you can access your score for $15! How infuriating! Don’t use this this site for your IQ test! You deserve to not only know your IQ for free but to also receive your test score for free after doing all that free work! For all the ones saying “use your common sense and check your email, end timer etc” I did.
